Squeezertm :      How it Works

Here’s how the Squeezer works:

 

Two versions are available, depending upon the stability of the entrained air suspension in the process fluid. For samples in which the entrained air does not readily release, such as pulp suspensions and food emulsions, the standard "PA" version is suitable. For samples in which the entrained air releases rapidly, such as filtrates and effluents, the optional "UA" is suitable.

 

PA (standard) version for process fluids with stable entrained air

 

 

 

 

The Compression Piston is fully retracted using the Threaded Compression Shaft. The Bleed Assembly is removed and the Squeezer is oriented vertically. Process sample is carefully poured into the open end to completely fill the Sample Tube. The Bleed Assembly is then screwed back onto the Sample Tube. With the Bleed Valve in the open position, the Compression Piston is moved into the Sample Cylinder until process sample begins to flow out of the Bleed Valve. The Bleed Valve is then closed and the Compression Piston is moved into the Sample Tube, while counting the number of turns of the Threaded Compression Shaft. The Compression Piston movement causes the air bubble that is trapped in the Pressure Indicator tube to be reduced in size. When the compressed bubble reaches the score mark on the side of the Sample Tube, the test is complete. The entrained air is determined by multiplying the number of turns of the Threaded Compression Shaft by a conversion factor.

 

UA (optional) version for process fluids which do not retain entrained air

 

The Bleed Assembly for this option is equipped with two valves. One valve (the Sample Valve) has an attached tube which extends well into the Sample Tube. Process sample, available from a pressurized source, is added to the Sample Tube through this valve. Air is displaced out of the Sample Tube through the Bleed Valve. When process sample begins to flow out of the Bleed Valve, the Sample Valve is closed and quickly thereafter the Bleed valve is closed. The Compression Piston is then moved into the Sample Tube to compress the trapped process sample, and the remainder of the test proceeds just as it does with the standard PA version.
